Support » Plugin: Media Library Assistant » Filter by media type?

    Hi,
In the standard Media Library there is a filter available to filter media by type:
Unattached / All media items / Images / Audio / Video / Mine.
How can I display the same filter in MLA?
The reason I’m asking is that in the Gutenberg editor, when MLA is enabled I do not see this filter when e.g. inserting an audio block, which is quite annoying.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your report/question and for the details you provided. It motivated me to do some digging, and I have discovered some MLA defects which I will address.

You wrote “In the standard Media Library there is a filter available to filter media by type. When MLA’s “Enable Media Grid Enhancements” option is active MLA replaces the WordPress “media items” dropdown with a version that includes additional media views. The MLA dropdown is missing the “Mine” and “Trash” options, which I will work on adding.

You wrote “in the Gutenberg editor, when MLA is enabled I do not see this filter when e.g. inserting an audio block. With or without MLA there is no “media items” dropdown control for Gutenberg blocks such as Image, Gallery, Audio or Video. The blocks hard-code an appropriate MIME Type filter when they request items from the server. The current MLA version has a defect that ignores this filter and displays all items regardless of MIME Type. I will correct this as soon as I can.

In the interim I suggest you uncheck the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” box on the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab. That will restore the Gutenberg filter and display only the appropriate media types for blocks like Audio.

I regret the inconvenience, but thanks for alerting me to this MLA defect.

Thanks for the speedy reply (as usual)!
1.- Silly me, I was looking for a drop-down list Media filter similar to the one in the default WP Media Library… Had not noticed that MLA replaces this with a line of radio buttons!!!
2.- “unchecking the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” box on the Settings/Media Library Assistant General does restore the Gutenberg filter”. Looking forward to a fix for this bug.
    Keep safe,
    Joseph

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20210204 that corrects the Gutenberg filter by MIME Type problem. It also adds the “Mine” entry to the list in the Media/Library Grid mode. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this support topic:

PHP Warning on media upload with Polylang

It would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you. Thanks again for alerting me to this MLA defect.
