I need to make this blog: http://up8.431.myftpupload.com/blog/ look & function like this blog: https://www.mgshlachter.com/news. The problem I’m having is with the filter by category widget.

I’m using WordPress with Elementor plugin and the old site was done with Wix, for reference purposes.

The basic functionality is there on my blog: the user can filter thru the blog posts by category. I don’t like how every time the user selects a category, it changes the whole page. Neither does the client. I would like it to only changes the content section.

At the moment, I’m using a sidebar Elementor widget and inside it an AVH Extended Categories widget. I installed this plugin for its ability to display categories even if they have no posts attached to them. For the posts section, I’m just using the generic Elementor posts widget.

Anyone know how I can get the sidebar widget to only change the content in the posts section? I don’t want it to change the whole page. I just want it to filter thru the posts.

Do I need a different categories widget? Or sidebar widget? Or posts widget? Is there a widget that combines the sidebar & posts functionality all in one? Does anyone have any good recommendations for these plugins? Google is just a nightmare with all the paid advertising and the never ending multitude of plugins.
