In current version of the galley you can easily create blog style gallery with one column of the wide, big six thumbnails which could have description below every picture.
You can combine two main options of the gallery settings to create such view. First of all you need to customize layout of the gallery thumbnails in size settings section.
Just specify one column. In the case if you with to see the same columns amount on all devices then set one column for all resolutions.
For the description below gallery thumbnails you can use Polaroid mode of the gallery. Just enable Polaroid mode and select which text do you wish to show below thumbnails. You can select between title, caption or description text of the gallery images.
In the case of filmstrip gallery, unfortunately, for now, our plugin do not support such layout mode.
