Support » Plugin: Media File Renamer - Auto & Manual Rename » filling in blank spaces instead of dashes on rename

    Hi,

Thanks for the great plugin. I have put a few sites together (read amateur of limited knowledge) and its been a big help. I’m using version 5.2.5 and WP 5.8

Here’s the issue. In past, manually renaming in the dashboard screen, I would type say “a nice photo” click rename and the file would end up being renamed “a-pretty-photo.jpg”

Recently doing this same thing results in a file name “a pretty photo.jpg”. The spaces aren’t replaced with dashes. This seems to mess up Elementor, photos don’t display etc. If I manually replace the spaces with dashes and then rename, everything works.

I’ve cleared the cache in the browser and in WP via plugin.

Is there a way to back to how it was, or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

    Hi @measuretwice,

How do you rename files exactly? You mean that you go in the Renamer Dashboard, and where the filename is, you type a filename without spaces?

Right now, since this is considered manual rename, it will rename the file exactly like you set it (but will clean its encoding).

But I agree with you, the spaces should be part of it. Would you mind contacting me here? https://meowapps.com/contact/. I will prepare a new version for you to test.

A big tip of the hat to Jordy on this one – talk about service. He modified the software to replace spaces with dashes and it works perfectly.

    Thank you!
