 * Under root directory current permissions is set to 711 but all in one security
   recommends 755. Is this a problem? should I change it? what I’m thinking, the
   lower the number the better.

 * Hi, this plugin follows the standard file permission recommended by WordPress.
   You can read more about from the following URL [Change File Permissions](https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions).
   This will help you further understand file permissions if you don’t already know.
 * **WordPress standards are:**
    - For Directories = 755
    - For Files = 644

 * Hi brody,
 * If your WordPress can auto-update itself and you have no problems with uploading
   of media files then you should be fine even if your website has more strict file/
   directory permissions than recommended.
 * Cheers,
    Česlav

 * you should read more carefully, anything between 755 > 711 is accepted, I should
   not be getting a yellow bar if the root directory is 711.. it should be green.
   Matter of fact you shouldn’t even be scanning the root directory because that
   is part of the server not the website.

 * [@brody182](https://wordpress.org/support/users/brody182/) yes you are correct.
   However as I stated above the plugin is set to accept the standards set out by
   wordpress.org, which are the minimum needed to secure your folders and files.
   You setting your folders and or files to 711 does not mean that your stricter
   rules are wrong in any way. I should have added more information to my reply
   above but then [@chesio](https://wordpress.org/support/users/chesio/) clarified
   it further and added more information.
 * You can disregard the yellow bar if you have set up a greater level for folders
   and or file permissions.
 * The plugin developers will investigate further your suggestion/ request.
 * Kind regards
