Support » Fixing WordPress » Filesystem Permissions

  • Hi there,

I’m stuck on a problem where I can’t install WooCommerce on my WordPress, having a 500 server internal error.
After a while I found in “Site Health” that something’s wrong with permissions:

The main WordPress directory Not writable
    The wp-content directory Not writable
    The uploads directory Not writable
    The plugins directory Not writable
    The themes directory Not writable

I went to my hosting but permissions are fine, so not sure how to change this.

I’m with Godaddy, Windows Plesk hosting. WordPress up to date.

  • Have you tried checking the error log? The error log file can be in different places depending on your web hosting company. Look for a file named something like “error_log” in your main website folder or perhaps in a “logs” folder. You may need to turn WP_DEBUG on. See debugging in WordPress for more information.

    Thanks for your answer!
WP_Debug give me nothing more, same for the server logs…

Do you have any idea how to change those WordPress permissions? I’m pretty sure I get an error because it can’t write/access folders…
