• When the file name starts with Chinese characters the plugin removes it, e.g.

    这是name.jpg

ends up with alt to be set to “name”.

    这是一个名字.jpg

ends up with alt to be set to “” (empty)

Could the plugin support Chinese or other utf-8 character sets or can we use custom code to tweak its behavior?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Hello Shawn,

Sorry for the late answer, I just saw this.

I am not sure why this happens. I will definitely look into this and get back to you. I have a few cases like this for other languages.

    I once tried this solution – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/not-good-cyrillic-names/#post-11612241
Can you see if it works for you?

    Hi @arunbasillal

No worries. Thanks for taking the time.

I tried the setlocale() bit, put it into the beginning of wp-config.php, uploaded an image with Chinese filename. Filename still got removed completely. The plugin might have to find a way to match non-ascill chars.
