# File Uploads

 * Hi all, I am somewhat new to the wordpress theme and I have a client who would
   like to have the ability to upload files. the curios thing is that it won’t let
   him. Now I ma not sure if it is the folder settings or something else, this worpress
   installation was done through fantastico, and I assume the defualt installtion
   would allow uploads but it doesnt’ seem to, can anyone help me with this matter?

 * Also Its best if I avoid plugins, but if it is a must go ahead.

 * Typical WordPress installs only need the wp-content/ directory to be 777 (so 
   that WordPress can create the wp-contents/uploads folder). If you enabled Organize
   my uploads into month- and year-based folders then the subdirectories need to
   be checked as well (wp-content/uploads/2006/06 for example).
