  • I’m currently battling the exact same problem. Saving the update form with no file selected clears out the existing file entry.

Yeah. This is a problem I am working on also… Getting ready to open the code. Hopefully it won’t be too complex cause it doesn’t look like this plugin is supported anymore…

    This is my update.

    Overview | Download

This is still being tested by me, but it is working for what I need so far. I needed to remove GET variable dependancy and to be able to update files. The file part isn’t very graceful, but it is working.

Thanks so much for this! It definitely helps, but if the file upload field is required (which it is on my form), if you hit submit without uploading a file, it still gives you an error message about required fields. Any ideas what to do about that?

    Didn’t think of that…

Will look at it this evening.

Sorry. I ran out of time and this completely slipped off my radar. I still need to take a look. Hopefully later this morning.

Thank you for digging into this plugin and releasing an update. You made my day(in a happy, positive way!).
The image/post-thubnail upload is working fine, but it does not show up in the update-form, so it’s not possible to delete it within the update-post-form.

Nevertheless great work. The independence from GET is a great improvement.

I completely rewrote this plugin almost from scratch here:

It has thumbnails and deletes now. Also shortcode to activate and better security on the get parameter.

I have a form with up to 50 image posts, but only the one set as the featured image appears back in the form when populated. Why is this?

Also, multiple column lists do not populate either

So just to note. When you create a field as “Post Fields > Image”, they will never show up unless the image is Featured. There is no way to track these images, so there is no way to continue controlling them and pull them back into the update form. They have to be “Post Fields > Custom Field > File Upload”.

And then I can’t remember how this plugin supports them exactly, but this was part of why I began rewriting it into the bitbucket version.

And Lists should be fixed. They weren’t supported at all, but should be working the latest version.

I use WP Better Attachments plugin. It makes handling attached images simple.
