    Hi,

Will both the old and replacement file with new name be in the server uploads folder or will the old be deleted/renamed on the server when it is replaced? Alos, will the replacement file be in the same folder as the old file? So, for example if the original is in /wp-content/uploads/2020/01, will the new one be in 020/01 or 2020/06 if I were to upload it today?

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi @hmh11,

Enable Media Replace replaces your file, so the old file it is permanently deleted.

And yes, by default the replacement file will be in the same folder as the old one, but you can override that when replacing the file 🙂

    Hi Gerard,

    Thank you for your reply.

One more question. If I were to replace a file using Enable Media Replace and then delete that file in the traditional way (i.e. in WordPress Media) and upload a new one with the original file name (i.e. the file name that was replaced by Enable Media Replace), will there be an issue?

    Hey David,

No, that won’t be an issue. If you remove the file in the traditional way, then it is forever gone and you can re-use the original file name.

    Cheers!
