 * Hi all,
 * While upgrading to 4.5 (which I’ve been successful with), I noticed a problem
   with file and directory permissions.
 * If I follow the instructions [here](http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress#File_Permissions),
   only the user can write on the files (assuming, of course, the user is my own
   account and not the Apache2 process).
 * I had to turn on group (Apache2 process) write permissions for the upgrade to
   succeed. Afterwards, I had to turn it off again.
 * Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
 * I noticed for automatic upgrading (described [here](http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress#Regarding_Automatic_Updates)),
   files and directories are changed to 0644 and 0755. Does this mean even for automatic
   upgrades, I should turn these permissions back to before the upgrade manually(
   or via some cron job)?
 * Thank you!
 * Ray
