File permissions scan not working

    Hi,

    On my dashboard there is an option to turn on security for “File permissions”. Now it is OFF. I want to turn it ON. So I select it and it automaticly goes to the options of this feature.

    Then I see: “WP Directory and File Permissions Scan Results: 0/20”

    and this:

    So, I can click for eacht to set the recommended permission. I get the next message: “The permissions for E:\\HostingSpaces\\myspace\\mywebsite.nl\\wwwroot/wp-config.php were succesfully changed to 0644” But it is NOT changing! No one of the lines are changing.

    Is this because my host has a Windows based server? I always first grant access to wwwroot via cpanel when I’m editting something on my website, but it still didn’t work..

    Anyone any idea? I want to make it 20/20 : )

    Hi Just Here, you will have to speak to your host and ask them for support in regards to php file permission settings settings for WordPress.

    Hi Just Here, speak to your host and ask them how can you set up your WordPress website running in their Windows Server. You also have to ask them how do you set up the file permission correctly because of this issue you are experiencing.

    After fixing my .htacces file, I still can’t change the file permissions.

    This plugin gives the option to change the file permissions by clicking on a button simply, but nothing happens, also after fixing the .htaccess file. I think I know what the problem is:

    My file permissions are changeable via cpanel. Because the host is a Windows based server nad not a Linux based server, the File permissions options of this plugin can’t change from 0666 to 0644. Or from 0777 to 0755 for example.
    That doesn’t work with a Windows based server. The plugin doesn’t know it is Windows based, so it still asks me to change the permissions for more security.

    Could that be the problem? Am I right?

    Yes that is correct, Windows servers work differently to Apache servers. Your best option is to ask your host to help you with file permissions.
