• Hi all,
My site was working perfect until 2 day ago when after a big slowdown of site for about 15 minutes, any new uploads done to the server through the media uploads page get file permissions as 0600, instead of 0644.

I had already unchecked “Organize into days and months” check box months ago, and it was all working perfectly. My host says they could not find any error in the server log file, but I don’t know why then 90% of the time I upload an image, it gets 0600 file permissions. Rarely, another image uploaded get uploaded successfully with 0644 permission, which can be accessed through the site.

Any help? I am really tired of having to mannually change permissions for every image uploaded now 🙁

  • Have you asked your hosts about this? Sounds like something changed on your server.

Yes I asked them yesterday, and they say they have checked logs and all, but there’s no change in the server.

Is there any authorization required by a wordpress installation for saving a file with specific permissions on a web server?

No but it may depend upon the ownerships applied to WordPress when it was first installed. That would, again, be a server issue.
