# File Permission Problems

 * Hi there, I am currently having problems with the file permissions with all of
   my wordpress sites. I currently have to set everything to 777 to be able to do
   anything with my sites.
 * I have looked at the support codex and have checked that the owners of my files
   and folders are the same as my ftp username aswell as my wordpress username. 
   I however do not know if the group the files and folders are part of have any
   affect. This problem has started after I had to move my sites to a new server
   and affects sites I migrated as well as a clean install of wordpress for a new
   site.
 * I am currently using smartFTP and plesk. Any help would be appreciated as making
   changes to my sites means changing the files permissions everytime.
