[Resolved] File options for autoupdate

    Hi Tobias,

Fantastic work here. Just what I’ve been looking for. The new version of tablepress has experimental file type xlsx but the auto updater still has only the origianl 3 file types. Will this be getting updated as at present it’s just failing.

Once again great work – thanks so much for this.

    Hi John,

    thanks for your post!

Yes, I have not yet updated the Auto Update Extension, because XLSX import is still experimental. I’ll certainly do that in the next days (or weeks, depending on how I find time), once it is clear that XLSX support will stay and not be removed again.

Meanwhile, adding support might be as easy as changing the line

    <td><select name=\"auto_import[{$table['id']}][source_format]\"><option value=\"csv\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'csv', false ) . ">CSV</option><option value=\"html\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'html', false ) . ">HTML</option><option value=\"json\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'json', false ) . ">JSON</option></select></td>

    of the “view-auto-import.php” file to

    <td><select name=\"auto_import[{$table['id']}][source_format]\"><option value=\"csv\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'csv', false ) . ">CSV</option><option value=\"html\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'html', false ) . ">HTML</option><option value=\"json\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'json', false ) . ">JSON</option><option value=\"xls\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'xls', false ) . ">XLS</option><option value=\"xlsx\"" . selected( $auto_import_table['source_format'], 'xlsx', false ) . ">XLSX</option></select></td>

    Regards,
    Tobias

That’s worked just fine. Thanks Tobias. So far I’m able to import my xlsx and xlsm files with no problems. Glad you added this. Great work.

    Hi,

thanks for the confirmation that this helped! I’ll then add this to the Auto Update Extension soon.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!

Great work on the auto import. 15 min is better than having no option at all. Hopefully in the future you can integrate and implement live updates with Google Spreadsheets too. Still good job. Thanks.

Just donated few minutes ago through PayPal as well.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and for the donation! I really appreciate it! 🙂

Live updates are not really possible, as this would either require some sort of notification by Google once a table has changed, or TablePress needs to do the import more often, which is bad for server performance.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

The comment about server performance, I totally agree. But at the same time I have seen this done in other plugins. For example, I think Visualizer graph plugin does that. I don’t know about their implementation detail though.

    Hi,

thanks for that information. I’ll check this out once I find the time for it, and if I think that it will fit into TablePress, I might add it.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
