    Great plugin!

Two items I need help with:

    1. On this view https://ps.w.org/amazon-polly/assets/screenshot-3.png?rev=1817621 I see a download button displaying on the right of the player. However, I do not see this download arrow icon on my site. How do you turn that on?

    2. “Store audio in Amazon S3:” is NOT checked on my install. Where are the content audio files being stored on my server? Please give the path URL.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi @welswebmaster!
Thanks! Regarding the ‘download’ button – I think this is browser specific functionality. I have just checked it in Chrome (on Mac), and I see the button. Can I ask which browser and OS are you using?

Can I also ask if you believe that this button is so important that it should be visible always? Depending on the need, and importance, we might consider adding this functionality to the next release of the plugin.

If you don’t have S3 option enabled, audio files are being saved on your WordPress server. Below example:

    [audio src="http://34.245.178.92/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/amazon_polly_4.mp3" /]

    1) At the beginning the domain (or IP) of your WordPress instalation,
    2) Then date of the post
    3) Files names have got ID of the post included in their names (in this example ‘4’).

Let me know if this helped.

    Cheers

    Hello again,
Thank you for your response. You are correct that the download button appears on the Chrome browser using Mac 0S 10.13.3. It doesn’t appear on Safari nor Firefox browsers. I also found that it doesn’t appear on the mobile view (IOS). I eventually figured out I could right click (on laptop) to save audio file, but that isn’t very user friendly.

We are going to use this solution specifically for our Blind audience. We are even going to password protect the WordPress pages or the server (have’t decided which just yet), because legally, you may share any content to the blind via audio as long as it isn’t open to the public view.

Because we will need to keep audio files private, it would be awesome to deny access to the RSS feed as well.

I think the download button is important for the visually impaired audience so that they are not tied to an internet connection. I also like it for anyone because listening while exercising or driving (download the files to listen later) is a real plus.

This is a fabulous plugin. Keep up the good work! It will make a positive impact for many!

Oh – one more point…I didn’t realize the audio files were stored on our server because they are not visible as AUDIO files under the WordPress Dashboard > Media Library. I only found them via SFTP.

    Hi @welswebmaster!
Cool! I wish you all the best with your solution! If you will have any questions, please do not hesitate to write me/us!. Your goal (solution for Blind people) is very noble!

We will add to the roadmap the possibility of deactivating RRS feed.

    Cheers,
    Tomasz

Follow up – SOLUTIONS to use with Amazon Polly

Issue: The MP3 player’s download button is missing in FireFox
1 – Solution – For Firefox missing download button, consider also installing the Download Attachments plugin.

Issue: MP3 files not listed in WordPress Media Library
2- Solution – For “missing MP3 files” not being displayed in the Media Library, use Register to media library from files that have been uploaded by FTP by installing the Media from FTP plugin. There is a cron schedular addon if you need to automate it.

    Hi @welswebmaster,
Based on your feedback, we have also added the possibility to disable podcast functionality in the latest release of the plugin (1.0.8).

    Cheers,
