All my users are getting this message showing in the forum, but why I am the only one who can upload images without any problems?

File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

Current setting for size is 1000 kb in the attachment settings.

All uploads are handled by WordPress, and this message is from WordPress core and as far as I know, it is displayed only when the file size is 0. I am not sure why only admin can upload files in your case, maybe you have some other plugin that is causing problems (maybe some security plugin). You need to disable all plugins to try and find if this is caused by any of them.

No security plugins installed, and no other plugin that handles uploads. But the mystery is why I can (and admins) upload attachments from the front-end with no problem but no user can. I am also positive that every user that posts to the forum is not uploading files that have 0 file size. Attachments are image files, such as jpg.

Hard to test the site when it’s live and disabling all plugins, especially with a membership/e-commerce site, but also when the admins can upload attachments regardless.

The error returned is directly from WordPress, so WordPress decided that file is wrong, and my plugin has no influence over that. I am not sure how can I help you here without determining exactly if some other plugin is not causing this.

Useful plugin: Seitch To allows you as Adkin to switch to pretend to be another user abdcteft their functionality as them. Then switch back!

I found the User Roke Editor plugin messing with my bbpress/attachments permissions.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for sharing this, if anyone else has similar problem, it is a good idea to check user role edit plugins (there are many of theme), maybe something role related was causing it.

    Hello,
    just for your information:

    I had the same problem.

    I solved it this way:
The max upload filesize of another plugin (WP User Avatar) has affected the max upload filesize of GD bbPress Attachments.

    Reagards,
    Alex

hi Alex, that’s really helpful info.
    many thanks
