[Resolved] Field metadata

I am excited about the Pods plugin and am in the process of evaluating the plugin to see if I can use it.

One thing I have noticed, and cannot find any discussion of, is the fact that each field created for a pod results in 70 entries in the wp_metadata table. I find this a bit alarming, and wondered what people’s thoughts are on the potential impact of this. I wonder whether the 70 items could be combined into one entry consisting of an array. Or is there really no concern about having so many entries per field?

We use Custom Post Types and Custom Fields for the definitions of our Pods and Pod Fields. We rarely hit the DB to load information, since we utilize transients to store all Pod information when it’s loaded for the first time. Our cache/transient is cleared when you make an edit to a Pod or field.

Content for individual items, such as a Post Type, will only have the field / data you define though, so you won’t see a huge increase in meta data just by adding one item.

    Thanks for the clarification
