Few questions about the Snapshot theme. (19 posts)

    Hi all,

    I installed the Snapshot theme from Woo for my perosnal portfolio and I'm stuck with a few questions;

    1. I would like to have 3 items showing in a row instead of 2. I found where to change the dimensions in the theme, but when I make them smaller, there's still only 2 items in a line/row.

    2. The pagination is missing, this was already the case before I started modifying the the theme. How do I get the pagination in the downpart?

    3. The resizing of the imaged worked well (from 330x190 px > 330x330 px), but when I click on portfolio (categories) > graphic design (or any other subject) the images are stretched back to 330x190 px, where can I adapt this?

    4. is it possible to disable making comments? It would be great if the 'make a comment' box could disppear.

    5. I did not touch the rss feed logo on yop and the WP logo in the downpart, but they do not show anymore, why could that be?

    Thanks in advance!!

    first, your blog looks great with the square images ;-)

    ad 1.
    may need more complex redesign of the display logic in index.php

    ad 2.
    probably needs the plugin wp-pagenavi

    ad 3.
    categories seem to be displayed by archive.php; check it for resizing

    ad 4.
    you could disable comments from the admin-dashboard;
    or you could try removing

    <div id="comments">
                	<?php comments_template(); ?>

    from single.php

    ad 5.
    the images for 'rss' and 'WP' don't seem to be in the right folder

    Hi alchymyth,

    Thank you so much for your input!

    Will have a look at point 1 and 2 when when I'm 'fresh' again tomorrow ;) Fixed the resizing in archive.php, really thought I went through all the php filea already! I disables the commennts and then had 'Comments are closed' apearing underneath my posts, took out that line from comments.php now. I'm left with a . (dot), but will have a closer look at that later..

    For point 5; the WP and rss image are in the image folder of the default colour theme, they where not moved, so should be in the correct placed. I did however replace the navbg.jpg to customise my menubar, and now these logos do not show, can that have something to do with it?

    Off to bed ;)

    Ah yes, before I forget, thanks for the compliment!
    I am new to WordPress, have been stumbling my way through the css and php files, but start to enjoy it now, hehe.

    if you have figured out where to change all the dimensions, here is the code to change in index.php to show three blocks in a row:

    from this:

    <div class="grid_6 <?php if ($counter == 1) { echo 'alpha'; } else { echo 'omega'; $counter = 0; } ?>">

    to this:
    <div class="grid_6 <?php if ($counter == 1) { echo 'alpha'; } elseif ($counter == 2) { echo 'kappa'; } else { echo 'omega'; $counter = 0; } ?>">

    (.kappa is a new class, but does not need to be styled in 960.css)

    (I would find the styles in 960.css very tedious to edit, to rearrange everything in three blocks)

    Hmm, resized the items to 210x210 and replaced the code, but now they show up underneath each other ;)

    unfortunately, in 960.css, there are all these .container_12 and .container_16 styles, that need to get new values to turn it into a three block design.
    probably needs a lot of calculating on paper to get this right.

    Bummer, will change it back for now. Since I never saw a css sheet or php template untill last Friday, i guess that will be a bit too enthousiastic to try and solve ;)

    But thanks a lot anyways!

    this one style in 960.css seems to make the difference - change it to width:220px:

    .container_16 .grid_6
    	width: 220px;

    PS: seems to have implications also in single.php in the width of the image :-(

    i just see, you are back to two blocks - probably the best solution ;-)

    Thanks again for the help, I'm very happy with my 3-in-a-row portfolio.
    But when I click on one of the categories, they appear 2 next to each other :( I guess I can also change this in 960.css, but what container do I need to adjust?

    Thanks :)

    look into archives.php - there is the same code
    <div class="grid_6 <?php if ($counter == 1) { echo 'alpha'; } else { echo 'omega'; $counter = 0; } ?>">
    that does the 2 blocks (or when you change it 3 blocks)

    no need to change 960.css any further, as it is called in header.php and applies to all situations.

    Hello Lindabos,

    I'm trying to use the same theme, and wanted to ask you whether you solved the problems in your 1st and 3rd questions or not? I actually want to resize them into 220x150 on the mainpage in 3 rows, but on the second (post) page, want to keep the original size. 330x190

    Another problem; When you click on the thumbnail, it takes you to the post image page. Then you can further click on the image and it links to the original full sized version of the image. It is this link that I want to remove.

    Basically, when you go to the post page, I want to remove the link to the original picture because it takes you out of the main site.
    How can I do this?

    And the last question; I want to publish a 468x60 ads in the header part on the right and side, where the site description is. There's already an option to write there something but it doesn't work with ads banner link.

    If somebody could help me about these 3 problems, I'd really be appreciate. Please help...
