Support » Plugin: TablePress » Feel URL in csv format only zipped

    Hallo,

I was told that they only have xml unzipped, csv is all zipped.
Here is their reply: “…you can choose xml or csv. If you choose csv then it will be zip only.”

When looking at the import option of your plugin, there is not xml.
So how can we solve this problem?
When do you think the url feeds would be importable in a “zipped” csv format?
I am afraid that importing a csv table as a file prevents from regular updating, which the url feeds do.
Thank you for letting me know.

    Hello,

    there is something going on.
What do you mean by Single Cell Shortcode Extension? The Auto Import to be ticked as Active?
When I import the table from the url and add the #test.csv.zip suffix and save it, everything is all right.
Then I activate the feed in Auto Import (I tick it), the imported table disappears with all columns and there is only on column with the strange characters as at the beginning…
I do not know what is going on…

    Can you please help?
    Thank you.

    Hi,

hhm, after checking again, the Auto Import Extension does not support zipped files (not even when the correct ZIP is used) 🙁 The reason is that this does not work due to the cron feature (which is what periodically calls the import) 🙁

I mentioned the Single Cell Shortcode Extension several times before in the other thread. You have to download and install/activate it from https://tablepress.org/extensions/table-cell-shortcode/

    Hello,

    I already installed this add-on.
    What does it look like?
I have these blocks under Import tab:
    1) Import tables
    2) Import from WP-Table Reloaded
    3) Auto-Import tables

I have both add-ons recommended by you in the past downloaded:

    Hi,

ok, that’s good. Now the Shortcodes like

    [table-cell id=123 cell=C2 /]

    should work just fine.
Just change the table ID and cell to the correct values. Does the Shortcode then work on a post/page or inside a table?

    Hello,

thank you. The problem is, that the imported tables with the corresponding number of columns disappear as soon as I enter a shortcode and instead they have only one column and texts with special characters inside.

What to do to prevent the correct tables from disappearing?

    Hi,

where did you enter the Shortcode?

Entering the Shortcode does not cause the tables to lose columns and have special characters. That is still caused by the not-supported import of a ZIP file.

    Hi,

what is the “supported import of a ZIP file”?
I entered the shortcode in the link.
I want to prevent losing the table again.
Thank you for letting me know,

    Hi,

as mentioned above, the Table Auto Update Extension does not support the import of CSV files that are zipped. If you do that, you will always lose the table again, because it will be overridden with that one-column table with all the special characters.
Importing a ZIP file is only possible with the manual import, but not with the auto-import.

    Hello,

    I am confused.
How should I proceed to import a zipped file with a manual import?
I always entered f.e. this link:
    http://datafeed.api.productserve.com/datafeed/download/apikey/af317a894a2a885b519a9edcbb9fefd1/language/en/cid/99,100,101,107,110,111,113,114,115,116,118,121,122,127,581,624,123,594,125/fid/911/bid/69629/columns/aw_deep_link,product_name,aw_product_id,merchant_product_id,merchant_image_url,description,merchant_category,search_price,display_price/format/csv/delimiter/%2C/compression/zip/adultcontent/1/#test.csv.zip

    here: Import Tables
    and
Auto Import Tables, which I suppose is what you´re referring to. This wrong, isn´t?
    This cannot be then automatized?
    Thank you,

    Hi,

you can indeed manually import the table by using that URL, on the “Import Tables” screen.

You can however not automatize this, correct. The Auto Import does not support tables that are zipped.

Sorry, I have one more question: in this context it means, that I cannot use the Auto Import Tables add-on?
    Please confirm or refute.
    Thank you.

    Hi,

yes, for tables that are only available as a ZIP, you can not use the auto-import.

    Tobias
