    Dear SEO Framework Team,

I can understand that reducing the verbosity of description is important, but I had to admit some settings can be confusing for inexperienced users.

For example, SEO Settings -> Homepage Settings -> Social Image Settings doesn’t explain whether it is an open graph specifically for the Homepage and what makes it different from SEO Settings -> Social Meta Settings.

Maybe a complete blog topic or even a PDF for premium users that can guide them to set up the most optimal settings or best practices would be great.

  • Hey Ferdinand,

we have an UX/UI retouch on to-do list, but you know how it is, there are so many priorities and only so much energy. The current priority is the importer extension, so people can hop to TSF from other plugins.

I agree a thing or two can be improved… Feel free to post here anything else that bothers you. We collect issues users have on KANBAN board, and we try to slowly remedy the issues without shuffling the UI too fast and too much, as we have to account for a11y users as well.

I am glad you took the time to write your feedback down – we do read everything.

    Cheers,
    Pierre

I have been using the plugin for years since 3.1.4 and as a perfectionist myself I can safely say this plugin is well built and polished. Thus, I don’t think I have any suggestions other than UX/UI, even the user experience is actually above average from my usage perspective.

So I feel a full guide of best practices is more important, affordable, and impactful than a user interface revamp. Explaining what each setting does in a more detailed way can also help educate some users. It also serves as logistics, spend less time answering ubiquitous questions.

I would also need an explanation for these questions I had:

For example, SEO Settings -> Homepage Settings -> Social Image Settings doesn’t explain whether it is an open graph specifically for the Homepage and what makes it different from SEO Settings -> Social Meta Settings.

    Hello!

I tried to be as verbatim and literal as possible with the settings to preclude ambiguity — the planned interface change would make the separation more obvious. If detailed and factual information is available, I add them to a link on the [?], depicted as underlined and blue. Hovering over any [?] will present you with a balloon containing details. If I believe helpful information is necessary, I will add that free of charge.

Perhaps you missed our guides https://tsf.fyi/d/setup and https://tsf.fyi/d/improve, which were a late addition for which links are shown only right after the first installation (not after an update).

Best practices are simple: don’t touch anything and use the default settings; they prove excellent on most sites.

Homepage Settings apply to the homepage only, not any other page. From the settings page:

A social image can be displayed when your homepage is shared. It is a great way to grab attention.

The social settings apply to all pages, including the homepage. Page and term settings override that.

Homepage settings override page settings unless stated otherwise (in bold red). From the settings page:

These settings will take precedence over the settings set within the homepage edit screen, if any.

When in doubt, you will find which image is presented by hovering your cursor over the image preview icon next to the “Select Image” button.
