• Can anyone recommend a plugin, or possibly third-party app, to count a site’s feed traffic? I have my site admin stats, but I think they’re inflated by automated requests.

I’d rather not go with Feedburner. I don’t want to shunt feed subscriptions away from my site, I just want a way to measure them.

  • I do not know of an alternative to Feedburner.
If you are prepared to grab your logs every 24 hours and run searches on them, you could establish some figures. But if Bloglines takes a feed you would not know if 20 people raed that or 200 unless you went and checked. Same for Newsgator and other sites similar.

Why not FB ? The effect is transparent to your users.

Thanks…I guess I don’t want to rely on FeedGator, any more than I’d rely on any third-party component that produces reader-accessible content on my site. There’s always the fear that it’ll malfunction, etc. and unduly inconvenience subscribers (which is why I never used BlogRolling on my old Blogger blog, and similar).

But in the absence of another tool strictly for my own tracking, maybe I’ll look deeper into FeedBurner.
