 * Hello,
 * I have 2 problems and if anyone can help me with either I’d be very grateful.
 * 1. When I try to set my feed as [http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/](http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/)
   I get this message when I click on the symbol on the site:
 * XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
    Location:
   [http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/](http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/) Line Number
   2, Column 1:<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?> ^ I haven’t a clue how to
   fix it or even if the feed link I have put in is correct.
 * 2. I changed how my site shows up in the browser as it was showing with numbers
   as a prefix. But now my posts aren’t being mailed out to my subscribers. (this
   is through jetpack)
    Could this be because they are subscribed to the site address
   with the numbers prefix?
 * I’m a total newbie so thank you very much for your help.
 * Chris

 * 1. The url is correct but something on your site is generating an error in the
   RSS feed. Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme
   with **all** plugins deactivated?
 * 2. Can you elaborate on exactly what you changed?

 * Thank you.
    1. I put [http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/](http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/)
   in the feed and put a widget on 2014 theme so I could see it. I deactivated plugins
   but got this error: XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of
   entity Location: [http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/](http://mindfulnessman.com/feed/)
   Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?> ^
 * 2. I’m not sure how best to describe what I did but I followed these instructions
   below from my host and it worked. I basically changed it so the url just said
   mindfulnessman.com and not 11.69.991.mindfulnessman.com (something like that.

   Here are the instructions I received: Right click wp-config.php and select Code
   Edit. You can now see the username and database.
 * Next, log into your cPanel. Look for the Databases section.
 * Select the icon named phpMyAdmin (looks like a sailboat.)
 * Once here, you need to select the database name on the left. (i.e. “_wrd1”)
 * This will display the names of the Tables to the right.
 * Locate and select the Options table.
 * Next, the database entries are listed in columns and rows. You want to select
   the pencil icon (for Edit) on the left for line 1 (option_name is “site url”)
 * Once you’ve clicked the pencil icon, you will see your domain name listed something
   like this:
 * [http://example.com/](http://example.com/)
 * You want to change that to the URL You wish to use
 * This step is crucial so you don’t make a mistake. Please take a moment to verify
   the URL you are typing in here is correct, or you won’t see any change.
 * Once you’ve changed the URL, down at the bottom there is a “Go” button. Select
   the “Go” button.
 * Select the Next button to go to the next page
 * Look for the option_name home
 * phpMyAdmin Home
 * Select the pencil icon Pencil to Edit.
 * Make the same URL change here as you did for siteurl earlier. And click the “
   Go” button.
 * Thanks for the help.

 * 1. Try re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the root wp-config.php &.
   htaccess files and the the wp-content folder – from a **fresh** download of WordPress.
   Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the
   new ones.
 * 2. The instructions from your hosts were correct but it could well be that new
   url was not updated for existing Jetpack subscriptions. Try asking Jetpack support
   about this via [http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack](http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack)

 * 1. Thanks, I have no idea how or where to do this. Is there anywhere you can
   point me for help please?
 * 2. Thanks, I’ve contacted jetpack.

 * You will need to use [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever
   file management application your host provides.
