# Feed Problems

 * Ever since I upgrade to 2.9 i have been having feed problems.
 * First of all I don’t have the /feed/ directory anymore, was this removed from
   2.9?
 * Second, I have tried using plugins: Google sitemap creator and xml sitemaps, 
   but I keep getting feed validation errors?
 * The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file. We encountered the following
   problem: Unknown feed format encountered (The root element is [Element: <urlset[
   Namespace: [http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9%5D/>%5D](http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9%5D/>%5D))

 * Site url?
 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress?
