Feed Landing Page URL Incorrectly Using Category Page URL When Set to Other URL

Hello,

We are using Category Podcasting, but ran into an issue.

Under Feeds > Feed Settings > Feed Landing Page URL, we set this to a valid landing page for our podcasts. However, PowerPress is ignoring our URL, and inserting the category URL instead.

We see the note below the field that says, “Leave blank to use category page Category page URL: ” . But we’re not leaving it blank – we gave it our landing page. Nothing we’ve done will get it to use anything else. We even tried giving it our home page, and PowerPress always inserts the category URL regardless.

Is this a bug? Any idea how to fix this?

Reply with the category feed URL and the URL you’re trying to set as the landing page URL so we can take a closer look at what’s going on.

Shawn – Thank you for getting back.

For our “Finance” category, we set the Feed Landing Page URL to: https://biggerinsights.com/bigger-insights-podcast/finance/

However, despite this being a valid page and PowerPress not throwing any errors, it will not set our actual landing page to this URL. Instead, no matter what URL we provide to Feed Landing Page URL, it always places the default “Category page URL” into our RSS feed, which is the following URL in our case: https://biggerinsights.com/category/finance/

Our RSS feed is: https://biggerinsights.com/category/finance/feed/podcast/

You can see that the provided landing page URL is not being inserted into the RSS feed, but we have no idea why. In fact, we’ve just set the Feed Landing Page URL to our homepage (https://biggerinsights.com/) and that didn’t work either. When we saved this change, PowerPress showed message “Blubrry PowerPress Category Podcasting settings saved.” but when we regenerated the RSS, it is still showing the category URL.

Thanks for the URLs. On my test site, I was able to get the URL:
https://biggerinsights.com/bigger-insights-podcast/finance/

To save in a Category feed’s Landing Page URL field without any trouble, so I’m not sure why it won’t save for you. You can try going to PowerPress >> Category Podcasting and do some experimentation with turning off/on Strict Categories and Podcast Only Feeds and see if that makes a difference.

There may also be a conflict happening within your WordPress installation. Make sure core WordPress, all plugins, and your WordPress are up to date. This support document also has suggestions on how to diagnose conflicts within your WordPress installation:
