All of a sudden my twitter profile tracker feed has disappeared! It was working up until yesterday. I haven’t changed anything. I’ve noticed a few people have had similar issues and it’s just resolved itself.

I get a strange thing that says “about 43 years ago”…very random

Have the same thing for multiple accounts. Experienced it before actually, it was then due to a Twitter API change and a quick fix from ‘http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline.json’ to ‘http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.json?include_rts=true’ helped. Doesn’t seem to be the issue here though, I’ll keep on looking too.

The same problem here. After Twitter updated the api to version v 1.1 the feeds disappeared.

Please anyone any suggestions? Any help will be appreciated!

Allright, I found the solution after a little while. turns out it is not as easy as the first time, but do-able. First off, forget about old plugins with old API’s -> Twitter API v 1.0 is ‘retired’ as they state on their website.

The most important change is that you now need authorization keys (4 of them actually). You can get them by signing in to your Twitter account (you have to have one, otherwise, sign up). Then go to https://dev.twitter.com/apps and create a new application (really). Give it a name, then create your Keys. You’ll get the first 2 right away (Consumer key, Consumer Secret) and you can create the other 2 in the bottom of the page (Access token, Access token secret).

    Almost there 🙂

Now, you can either write your own feed or plugin or you’ll take a decent plugin like this one -> http://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-twitter-feed-widget/ which is compatible with the v1.1 API from Twitter.

Most of the time this will work right out of the box, which is nice for a change. Now if you have trouble and you see this functions instead: ” Warning: curl_exec() has been disabled for security reasons ” the follow these instructions:
    http://www.2by2host.com//articles/php-errors-faq/disabled_curl_exec

    Good luck!

Thanks for that. Yep the authentication option, mentioned above works fine with the right plug-ins (v1.1 compatible), but I can’t find another one like this, which enables me to filter a particular hashtag from a particular user…was just about to launch the site as well!

This has been coming for sometime though…

The Twitter tracker code has been updated. Download and install it with instructions in this thread.

I’ve released a new version which you can update to through WordPress, version 3.3.3. Please let me know any issues.

Fixes the Twitter API issues, and adds options for dealing with Emoji.
