I think I found the problem. It may be caused by the nice little plugin http://www.orderedlist.com/articles/wordpress_feedburner_plugin
which may not like working with Nicer Archives. BUT-
When I went back to using the regular rss2.php feed url, it was fine. I even left the redirecting on and it seems to work fine. Go figure. The feed generated by the plugin specifically for FB is not understood by FB and is read in the wrong order. Something doesn’t sound right about that.
my site is http://glitteringstew.com/muse
and my most recent post is http://glitteringstew.com/muse/2005/05/02/spirit-fuel/
And my still functional Feedburner feed is
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Glitteringmuse
These are the plugins that conflicted. Nicer Archives http://www.davidsaccess.com/2005/03/13/wp-plugin-dcs-nicer-archives/ was affecting the feed post order for this plugin http://www.orderedlist.com/articles/wordpress_feedburner_plugin
Since both of these plugins are so good I bugged the author of the FB plugin to work around things. This is the fix he came up with.
Open ol_feedburner.php in a text editor, and replace line 39:
$data[$feedburner_settings['random_source_url'] . '/?$'] = 'index.php?&feed=rss2';
with this:
$data[$feedburner_settings['random_source_url'] . '/?$'] = 'wp-rss2.php';
Now I can consolidate all my feed stats through FeedBurner and have Nicer Archives, too!
