In details:
Which could be the code to say: get the category (or tag) from the post and retrieve the bookmarks with the same category (or tag)?
This is an interesting idea, but I’m sorry to tell you that it cannot be added for various reasons.
Firstly, because the URL, where the plugin retrieves the items from, is defined by the user.
Secondly, OK we could add an option to retrieve the items using the current post’s category or tag, but… which tag or which category (assuming that the post has more than one category and/or tag)?
OK, we could use the first category/tag added to the post. But will the user satisfied with this?
Thirdly, and what about static pages? Pages don’t accept categories and tags.
Your idea is very interesting, but it seems more adapted to a customized version of the plugin, and this version could do this very well.
Bye! 🙂
Thank you for the reply.
You are right, there are some obstacles to be solved.
However in my website, the categories are a hierarchical taxonomy, that is to say that each post (as the post is a sort of term description) pertains only to one category. that is why I was thinking that it could be interesting to link a term to the delicious links.
As at this stage my project requires a lot of human-work I think I will use the plugin customizing it term by term.
In case you will develop my idea I will be happy to contribute!
Thanks
I have just sketched a draft of this custom plugin and it’s already working fine. It’s a slightly modified version of Delicious Readings. There is still something to define better. As soon as I complete the work, I’ll let you know, but if you want to contribute, you’d make me happy. How do you think you could help me? 🙂
There is a problem, though. Delicious is a service that is very sensitive to frequent requests coming from a server. If your WordPress installation constantly sends requests to Delicious because the URL of the feed changes at almost every page of your site, Delicious could block the IP of your server.
sorry to reply so late.
It’s great what you are doing!
I do understand the constraint due to delicious services restriction. Is there anything that can overcome this problem?
About my contribution, you should know I am not a developer, but a content manager. I can contribute for translations, testing, and promoting. (I am in a phD programme on natural hazards communication and information sharing).
I am sorry not to be a geek-girl 🙂
Please keep me update.
Elenis, you can find the plugin on GitHub.
The download link is located at the bottom of the right sidebar (“Download ZIP” button).
Let me know what you think about and if you need any help.
Enjoy! 🙂
I am very sorry. I had an incident and was in hospital for a vertebral fracture. I will be able to work again in three weeks time… very demoralized…
Oh, Elenis, I’m very sorry reading this! Hope you will be fine again as soon as possible! Hugs from Sicily.
Finally I am back.
Really sorry, but it has been a hard period.
I am going to try the plugin and come back to you to let you know how it works.
thanks for your patience.
