Feed blog posts and data to other areas of site

I am running wordpress side by side with a shopping cart. I would like to feed post titles, summaries and images from 3 separate blog categories to 3 separate areas of the home page. The easiest way I can see to do this with my very limited developer knowledge is with RSS. Can anyone offer any advice on the best approach for ease and performance.
