Featured tag no longer working correctly

I am using the browser version of WordPress, and recently it appears it has been updated. Now every time anyone on my website posts a new story using the “featured” tag to put it on the grid at the top, it doesn’t work. The way I fix this each time is going into customize and resaving from there. Then all of a sudden all of the stories that are supposed to be in the grid move up automatically. But I have to do that each time. Can anyone help me?
