I know this have been asked tons of times, but I can’t really sort it out. How do I set the posts to be shown in the slider on the top of the blog?
I don’t have any featured post but I still see some post in the slider, and if i set other posts as “featured” I don’t see them in the slider but i see them pinned on top with a star on them. Can someone help me to figure it out?

    I set:
    Featured Category: Choose One
    Featured Post Count: 3
See http://www.carapaucostante.it/ to see what I mean.

    Thank you!

Hi CarapauCostante. The “Featured Posts” are selected based on the following criteria:
    – If a Featured Category is selected, get posts only from that category; otherwise select from all posts.
    – If the Featured Post count = 0, no display
    – If count = 1, show 1 post
    – If count > 1, show the slider
Posts are selected in descending date order so newer posts are shown first.
The star indicates a “sticky” post that will always be displayed, regardless of date.
So, in your example, the 3 posts in the Featured Posts slider are dated Mar 5, Feb 24 and Feb 16. Then you have the “sticky” post. Then the next post is dated Feb 9, Feb 3, and so on in descending date order.
    Hope that helps.

Thank you, probably I’m lost in translation… When I publish a post I can set “in evidenza” which I thought it was “featured” while probably it stands for “sticky”.
So where do I set the post featured? I cant find it in wp. Sorry for the nooby questions!

When you edit the post, setting it to “sticky” is an option under Publish > Visibility. “Featured” is not an option that you set on the post. It is just a name given to a one or more posts that are displayed at the top of the home page. Does that help?

dbbrown, how can I give that “Featured” name to a post?
    Thank you!

Not sure I understand your question. If you’re trying to limit which posts are displayed in the slider, you could set up a category named “Featured”, assign posts to that category and then select that category in Blog > Featured Category.

Actually I don’t have any Featured category but I see 3 posts in the slider. Where does it take them? And why?

PS: I whant to remove those and add others..

    Thanx

By default WP selects posts in descending date order so the most recent posts are displayed first. The “featured” posts in the Hueman theme are selected the same way. The difference is they are displayed in a larger format (the slider) on the home page. So, since you have the option “Featured Post Count: 3”, the theme selects your 3 most recent posts and displays them in the slider. As I mentioned above, you can limit the posts that are displayed by assigning the posts you want to see in the slider to a category, and then setting the option “Featured Category” to that same category. Then you will see the 3 most recent posts from only that category in the slider.

Oh great, I didn’t get the point that the category is mandatory, otherwise it gets the last posts.

    Thank you again.
