 * Ok i know there are plugins for featured post that will make a specific post 
   like a sticky and always show, but im wondering if their is a way to have a featured
   post plugin that shows the title in the sidebar and maybe even a preview of the
   text… instead of at the top of the blog

   section on my side bar for that…just wondering if there was a dif option

   exist 😉

 * You can check what I did on my site. It’s similar to what you describe. I made
   a “featured” category that I excluded from all my category lists. I then made
   a sidebar section for that category.
