• Hello,

When I upload images to our posts, I used to click, ‘Feature This,’ on the images that we wanted Facebook to grab for our thumbnails. However, as of version 3.2.1, I can’t seem to find that feature anymore, and thus, don’t know how to have a default thumbnail for each post that we have.

For our site, we use the custom excerpt, ‘thumb_image’ to tell our site where each thumbnail is.

  • Are you speaking “featured image”? Dashboard, posts, upper right corner, screen options.

Or is this a specific plugin?

I am having the same issue. Any word about this? I am currently using the Custom Fields Image thing to get featured pics, but its a little annoying.

I am having the same issue. any solution?
    thanks

Still an issue. Our Facebook page doesn’t know where to grab thumbnails, and displays only text now.

@kmessinger I attached an image of what it used to look like. “Use as feature image” is now gone as of 3.2.1. I don’t think a plug-in caused it to appear or disappear.

Sorry, I was away for a few days. Hopefully your problem is solved but just in case . . .

    ‘Feature This,’

is what confused me – it is as you later said,

    “Use as featured image”

Dashboard, posts, upper right corner, screen options. If that is checked and you do not have the option, then try
    – deactivate all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – switch to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Had this problem too. I was a theme issue. Featured image works if the theme has post-thumbnail support.

Add this line to your theme’s functions.php file:
    add_theme_support(‘post-thumbnails’);

In existing posts this did not work completely but for new posts it did. (could be due to the Get-the-image plugin I have installed)
