Hello,
Thanks for reaching out.
By default, the Yoast SEO plugin outputs an image on your site in the schema, under the primaryImageOfPage
property. This image is taken from the Featured Image on the post or it falls back to the first image on the page. In the case of this page, we found that the primaryImageOfPage
is this one.
It’s important to note that whether Google displays one image or multiple images in the search results is entirely up to Google. Apart from the schema markup for the primaryImage
in the schema data, there are other factors (i.e. authority, context, etc.) that Google may take into account to decide whether or not to display an image next to your pages.
You can use the Google Structured Data Testing Tool to find out which primaryImageOfPage is being generated by Yoast SEO.
If our plugin is generating the schema markup as expected, we recommend contacting Google for further assistance by making a post on their forum here https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters. They should be able to provide you with additional information as to how to get image thumbnails in the search results.
Hi, thank you for the information. Is it possible that my CDN is affecting this feature? I have Cloudflare enabled. Thank you.
We don’t think the CDN has anything to do with the issue that you’re referring to here. In fact, it’s not an issue that you could fix but up to Google to decide when to show the featured image in the search results or even what to show.
Ok, thank you for the heads up.
Very much appreciate this info.
Hi,
We’re glad to be of help! Please do note that in the Google preview of the Yoast SEO meta box, you can toggle between mobile and desktop view. It’s more likely that the image would show up on mobile results rather than on desktop. You can learn more about it here – https://yoast.com/snippet-preview/
Have a good one!
