• I set preferred pinterest images in the scriptless social sharing area right under where my featured image is set. On some posts the plugin pulls the image I chose and for some reason on other posts, the plugin pulls both the one I set in scriptless social sharing and the featured post image. I was hoping this would be a workaround to my inability to add nopin code to wordpress featured images. I’m not sure why it works on some posts but not others. Thanks for any assistance you can give! I love your plugin and was so excited to finally notice this feature today. I’m not sure how I missed it!

Do you have any links you can share, please? I’d love to see one where the Pinterest image is set and the behavior is what you expect, and a link where the Pinterest image is set and the behavior is not what you expect.

I would also be curious to know if you are using a Pinterest bookmarklet (or whatever they call it) in your own browser to make pinning things easier, as that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing. If you are, I believe that tool will override the button somewhat and scan the page being pinned so that it will pull all pinnable images, not just the one marked as such. One way to compare would be to load the affected page in a browser without the bookmarklet tool.

If you can provide links, I will be happy to look.

Hi Robin, Thanks so much for your assistance. Here is a link to a post that pins the correct image: https://candaceplayforth.com/when-its-time-to-start-over/
This post offers image options even though it is set up just like the other one (a set pinterest image for the scriptless plugin): https://candaceplayforth.com/instagram-inspire-healthy-eating/
I do have the pinterest bookmarklet in my chrome browser. I tried both links in safari as well which doesn’t have that installed and received the same results listed above.
I updated about 10 posts today with a specific image to be used by the scriptless plugin for pinterest. It seems about half pull the one image while the other half pull the wordpress featured image also. I can’t figure out any common ground for the posts on either side. Thanks again for your help!

So, it looks like it’s the Pinterest script that is doing something to the sharing buttons. It’s modifying the Pinterest button URL string. If I disable JavaScript, the button is fine–with it on, the link to the Pinterest image is removed.

I would suggest removing the pinit.js script, however you are loading it, and see if that resolves the issue. The Pinterest “save” buttons won’t be on your images anymore, but your sharing button should behave correctly.

I’ll try that. I’m testing out tasty pins right now so they put the pinit button on pics. I don’t think I’m keeping them though so it will probably resolve when I delete that. I was just confused as to why it worked correctly with only certain posts and not others. That’s why I thought it wasn’t a conflict with another plugin. Oh well. I know sometimes things like that happen. Thanks!
