Featured image with teaser text, 'read more' link to post on new page?
-
Brand new WPer, have not yet settled on a theme or anything! I’m wanting the look and feel of my blog to be just right before I launch and am willing to tweak til it’s perfect.
So, I’ve got the gist of using the different ‘Read More’ content cut codes available, but they’re not quite what I’m looking for. I’m not sure if what I need lies in a particular theme, a ‘read more’ cut plugin, or what. So, let me tell you what I’m imagining, maybe somebody knows how I can flesh it out?
What I’m after is a home page which has an array of maybe half a dozen featured images, each with the post title and a few lines of content beneath the featured image for the post. However, when readers click the ‘read more’ link, I don’t want the full content of the post to appear on the home page where they are currently. I want them to click that link and be taken to the URL for that post on a ‘post’ page, not the homepage. Is that how the ‘read more’ plugins already work and I just misunderstood? Will I need to just make the ‘read more’ an href= to that post’s URL?
Any ideas are sincerely appreciated! I lookforward to learning and growing in this awesome community!
Alyssa
