Featured image slider

    I’m trying to build a new site from a custom theme template files that I have inherited (not built by myself – cannot contact original theme developer).

    The website I’m working on is:

    The website where the original theme is from:
    http://www.dukeofedinburghhotel.com.au/

    I have access to both sites.

    My issue is with the image slider. On the original site I am able to edit, remove, replace the slider images by:
    adding new posts, adding a featured image, assigning them a category (which is then referenced in the page template).
    When trying to replicate this process with the new site, I keep getting black sliders and “Sorry, no posts match your criteria”.

    I’m very new to wordpress so any help on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated!
