Featured image on variable products

Simple answer is that the featured images from Ali does not meet google requirements. or the featured image are not in proper setting from Google views.
The detailed reason as below:
Firstly, we submit google product feeds in google merchant center and then use google shopping ads to promote sales.
2# Google require different or unique featured image for each variable products, if not, Google merchant will think these product are duplicated, this is policy violation, and our google merchant account will be suspended.

The problem is that featured image taken from product variations on Ali are really bad, two situation here:
1# There are no featured images in variable products.
please check this product, although there are vairable Swatches.
We are using plugin to generate google shopping feeds, so, the featured image for variable products will be same one in google shipping feeds, and google will refused these products by suspend our merchant account. because google think duplicate products are unfair competition advantage.

Submit a unique image that represents the distinguishing details of each variant. For example, you sell a couch with two variants, one is green and the other is blue. You submit the first variant, green, with an image of the green couch. You submit the second variant, blue, with an image of the blue couch. The green couch should not use an image of the blue couch, and vice versa.
2# There ARE featured images in variable products.
BUT, there are lots of texts in the featured images, please check this product.

, and there is requirement:Don’t include promotional text, watermarks, or borders
Google check every product feeds by machine not manually since there are millions of product on google merchant center, they do not know what are the texts on the images, and they think it is bad user experience.
Conclusion:
Anyway, it would be great convenient and flexible way if you can make it support to edit featured images for variations before import to Woo, since most of images are already gallery. and we only need to do is to replace the default images of variable products with the ones in gallery.
Otherwise, it would be much much trouble to do that after it imported to Woo or published.

Now i understand what you mean is just to replace the original variation image with an other one just like replacing image of main product.

I’m thinking about adding a button for image in the gallery tab on which when you click the current image will be set to all current selected variations.
I am not sure what is the solution here, do you mean there are two steps as following:
1# select specific variation;
2# Go to gallery, select a specific image to replace the one of selected variation in step one?If yes, that would be great.
But if not, or it is impossible to achieve the above way, I think selecting image for variation one by one would be better although some variations use the same image.
Would you please let me know whether the first way is possible.
By the way, it would be even much better if it support crop and rotate function before replace.Thanks
