Hi @theuntakename,
It looks like your old theme used the post-thumbnail
image size for really small square thumbnails. Install the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails, regenerate all post thumbnails on your site, and see if that resolves it.

thanks for your response.
I have installed Regenerate Thumbnails and run it on all images, no luck :-/
The thumbnails on the post listings are OK, but the featured image on the post page is getting strecthed to square.

any other ideas appreciated
koji is really nice and clean, I hope I can fix this!
Hi @theuntakename,
In that case, some plugin must be interfering with the post thumbnail size set in Koji. Try disabling all plugins except Regenerate thumbnail, run Regenerate Thumbnails again, and see if the images display correctly.
The archive pages uses a different image size than post-thumbnail
– one unique to Koji – so it makes sense that those wouldn’t be distorted.

thanks for your response
what’s actually happening is a small thumbnail is being served as the main featured image, how weird is that?!
I have deactivated all plugins, no joy
my previous theme was Fukasawa which worked fine
any way I can ‘hard reboot’ this Koji theme?
thanks
Matthew
Hi @theuntakename,
According to the markup being output on your site, the 88×88 images are the post thumbnail size. Note the size-post-thumbnail
class on the image element below:
Did you try disabling all plugins except Regenerate thumbnails, and then running Regenerate thumbnails again?

“Did you try disabling all plugins except Regenerate thumbnails, and then running Regenerate thumbnails again?” – yes I have done this, no luck
why do you think the post thumbnail is being served as the featured image, surely the full-size image should be used?
Hi @theuntakename,
The name of the “featured image” size is post-thumbnail
, so the correct image size is being used – it’s just set to the wrong size. Koji sets the post thumbnail (featured image) size to 1870 pixels wide, and up to 9999 pixels high. When the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin is run, the images should be updated to those sizes.
If you activate the “Twenty Nineteen” theme and go to a single post with a featured image, is the 88×88 image still used?
— Anders
I deleted the Koji files and re-installed the theme, no luck
here it is with twenty nineteen activated…
https://mattsw.art
images still seem stretched
I am SO keen to get Koji working…
is there a safe way I can totally reset the WordPress stack to a fresh install?
(just need to save the posts, via export)
Hi @theuntakename,
Before reinstalling WordPress completely, give this plugin a try as well: https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/
I don’t see a reason why it should work when Regenerate Thumbnails didn’t, but it’s worth a shot.

yehaaaaa!!!
thank you Anders, that fixed it.
phew, stoked 🙂
