featured image not displayed

    Hello,

    YARPP is just what I need, the only problem is I can’t get it to display my posts featured images. It only falls back on the default image…
    Each post has a featured image, there is support for featured image in my theme, other plugins do get access to the images (I’ve tried countless related posts plugins…). I’ve even tried looking at the code and can’t figure it out…

    I’m having this problem with all posts, but I’m trying to use the plugin for custom post types. The posts in question are restricted to specific user roles, so I can’t direct you to a URL.
    I’ve tried with protected images (by content restriction) and unprotected images, on restricted posts and unrestricted posts… doesn’t work either way.
    I’m using a theme by Themify, called Ultra.

    Do you have any idea what the problem might be and how I could fix it?

    Hi @sybillevz, sorry to hera featured images are being difficult. This is unusual though, as they’ve worked for me.
    The most typical problem people have with thumbnail images is that they’re using the thunbnail size “yarpp-thumbnail” but images of that size (which is 120×120) haven’t been created in WordPress.
    Can please go to the YARPP admin page and take a screenshot of the “Automatic display options” (see https://i.imgur.com/Gts3aWI.png). I’d suggest making sure “Thumbnail Size” is set to “thumbnail (150×150)”, and that “Generate missing thumbnail sizes” is checked. My hunch something’s wrong with those…

    Hello Michael,

    Thanks so much for your reply.
    I’ve tried what you suggested (see https://imgur.com/WBnUsOc ), then cleared the cache… but no luck. I’ve also tried all the other thumbnail dimensions.
    As you can see in the screenshot, the preview is empty, I’m not sure that’s the way it should be ?
    I’m using a plugin called “Prevent direct access” to protect my images from unauthorized users. I know they also protect the thumbnails, so maybe I should ask them if their plugin could be interfering ?
    Although, that hasn’t been an issue for any of the other plugins that I’ve tried…

    Does YARPP need custom generated thumbnails (just for the plugin), or can it use the thumbnails generated by the theme ? I really have no coding background, so I’m naively asking this 😉

    Hi @sybillevz sorry your reply got buried in my inbox.
    YARPP can create its own thumbnail sizes, but you can also set it to use another size generated by your theme or other plugins. It sounds like you’ve got it setup correctly but there is probably a conflict with that other plugin. Is this the other plugin you’re using? https://wordpress.org/plugins/prevent-direct-access/
