Yes, this has been a problem in some themes, including Resportsive. Have to tried the Screen Options tab at the top left of the Edit Player screen? It should have a checkbox for player photo. (??) If that doesn’t fix it, please change your theme to Twenty Eleven (or any other Twenty-something theme) and see what happens. If the Player Photo is there, then I think the problem is Resportsive. I’d like to fix how to fix it, but I don’t have Resportsive installed, nor can I install every theme.

Let me now how those ideas work out for you.

    Hello Mark,

I am experiencing a similar problem with the featured image.

    WordPress 4.2.4 running Gameday theme.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank You

    Hi Duval Sports,
Thanks for writing. Having seen no response from I Dezine, at this point I believe there is a collision between Team Rosters and other themes and/or plugins. I believe I am doing everything “by the book” WRT the WordPress API, but maybe not. I’m willing to add whatever I can to harden my plugins and avoid collisions. So please:

    1. Switch to the WordPress Twenty Eleven theme. Don’t worry about your site’s appearance, just see if the Featured Image is fixed. If so, it’s your theme. If not,

    2. Deactivate ALL other plugins. Is the Featured Image fixed? If so, Activate them one at a time, checking the Featured Image until you find the culprit.

Let me know. If you find something, we can look at how to prevent it.

Sorry, just haven’t had time to check yet with the other issues and since we aren’t using the roster just yet I have to concentrate my time on fixing the schedule first.

Team Rosters has always worked with resportsive, i’ve used it for years. I have not installed any other new plugins. I just updated the rosters and Schedules & Scoreboards.

Unfortunately, it also removes screen options and help from the page. I will test again and get back.

    Hi I Dezine-
Thanks for the response and helping to get this figured out. Glad to hear it’s always worked before, that’s a start. A couple of comments/suggestions:

    1. It works on my box. Check out the screenshot.

    2. When you write

it also removes screen options and help from the page

, IT is ME. The plugin doesn’t do anything without ME telling IT to, and I did NOT (intentionally) remove screen options or anything else. As you can see from the screenshot in #1, they are still there, even has a checkbox for “Player Photo” in place of “Featured Image”.

    3. That said, “intentionally” is a key word. There may still be a problem due to other changes – WP core, PhP, plugins, themes, etc. So please change your theme and deactivate your plugins as suggested earlier in this thread.

    Then let me know.

I also have this featured image problem using the gameday theme, is there anyway i can use both the team and the plugin?

    (@markodonnell)

    Hi radurosca,
I would hope so. If I’m doing something janky, I’d like to fix it. I know GameDay is a popular theme, but it’s a premium theme so I don’t have a copy. This makes it very hard to debug this without some help. If you’d like to help, I suggest you proceed as follows:

    1. Deactivate all other plugins. Still a problem? Proceed to step two. If the problem disappears, reactivate the plugins one at a time until you find the culprit.

    2. Change the theme to 2011 or 2012. Still a problem? I’m guessing not, because I don’t see the problem in either of those themes.

Also, have you contacted MVP Themes and asked them about it. I don’t expect them to help you debug, but they might have an idea based on what they understand about their plugin.

Let me know how that goes and we will proceed from there.

    Thanks.

I contacted MVP themes. They have no idea (I wouldn’t expect they would, but it was worth asking). Nor will they give me a copy of GameDay so I can debug the issue for them.

I’ll keep it on the back burner, but I can’t debug without tools.

Hi Mark, happy New Year. Sad to say I also the Featured Image problem with the Genesis framework. I tried it on several StudioPress themes and it does not work. I deactivated every plugin and it still did not work. I am not going to give up Genesis so unless you can help me I am going to have to explore other options 🙁 Thanks in advance, Ray PS Too bad because I like what’ve you’ve done 🙂

    Hey Ray-Lewis,
    Happy New Year.

Did you try this on one of the standard WP themes Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve …. Twenty Fifteen?? It should work. Please let me know whether or not it works.

I have been looking at this and I have some ideas that I’m going to try out. If something looks promising, I may have a patch to try out. If it looks promising and if you send me (mark@drmarkodonnell.com) your email, I can send you a patch to try out. Again, I’ll guessing because it seems to work on standard WP themes, and it’s hard to debug when I don’t have all theme in question.

    Hi Mark,

I’m having the same issue as Ray-Lewis. I’m using the Avada theme and when I updated to the latest Team Roster plugin I can longer see the featured image when trying to add a post. If I deactivate the plugin the featured image shows up again.

    Thanks for you help.

    (@markodonnell)

    Hi Wally World,
Thanks for the info. It appears that this problem only occurs with certain “premium themes”, not with the WP standards – Twenty Fifteen, etc. So while I’d love to sort this one out for you guys, but since it seems to work with the WP themes so ….

You could help by changing your theme to Twenty Fifteen or Sixteen and see if the problem persists. If so, it’s something else in the site configuration, and I might be able to work it a bit. If not, you might want to ask your theme provider (Theme Forest?) about it.

    Regards,

    All-
I have posted a new (proposed) fix to this issue in the plugin’s development trunk. You only need the mstw-team-rosters.php file. If you have time to try it out, please let me know how it works for you.

    Thanks.
    -Mark

    Mark,

I was previously having this issue with a premium theme and my featured image not displaying. After downloading your updated .php file, the problem was fixed. Thought I’d let you know the (hopefully) good news.

Thanks for your dedication to these plug-ins!
