 * I would like for my restricted articles to certain users, the featured image 
   can be displayed for everyone.
 * How to do it?

 * Did you try to enable “Media” type in Ultimate Member – Settings – Access – Restriction
   Content (“Enable the “Content Restriction” settings for post types” block)?
