Maybe you can try to install another one or send me your theme (zip file) then I analyse that for you.

Hi, @globalreporter.
I have installed your theme. Unfortunately, it is not flexible enough to work with external images.
You can try to enable the toggle “This Plugin Doesn’t Work, Man!” in the plugin settings, for nonstandard themes, but the external images will be only shown in some places…
The only way would be to change the theme code.

@globalreporter, your theme is the problem. I can’t update the plugin to support that but you can change the theme code to support the plugin. But I don’t recommend that. If you really need to use the plugin, I would say to you use another theme. In the plugin settings there are a list of compatible themes…

I have installed your theme.

Longform is not 100% compatible with external images but you can go to Featured Image from URL settings and enable the toggle “This plugin doesn’t work, man”. As you can see the external image is being shown on the post.
To have a better explanation you can read the description above the toggle.

After new plugin released, I believe both themes are supported now.
