    Thanks for posting again.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you you please try temporarily deactivating all your plugins except Jetpack. Also deactivate all Jetpack modules, but keep Jetpack active.

Let me know if the slider appears after doing that.

If it does, you’ll want to reactivate plugins and Jetpack modules one at a time to find the conflict.

    Hello Kathryn,

I deactivated all plugins, disabled all Jetpack modules and temporarily paused CloudFlare for the site.

Unfortunately, no featured content slider… :-/

Thanks for testing the plugin avenue.

This might sound odd, but could you try changing the tag from “featured” to a different word as a test, both in the Customizer and on the featured posts themselves? Let me know how it goes.

    Hello Kathryn,

I had already tried that, but did try again with everything else disabled, no success either unfortunately. (it’s “sometag” now: http://www.858.photos/tag/sometag/)

Would you be willing to switch themes temporarily to another theme that supports Jetpack Featured Content to see if you have issues with Featured Content there too? For example, Apostrophe: https://wordpress.org/themes/apostrophe/

You may need to reassign your custom menu and move your widgets back into the right widget areas afterwards, but you shouldn’t lose any settings.

Let me know if you’re willing to try that, thanks!

Sure, I’ll try that. Will get back.

    Hi Kathryn,

looks like it works in the Apostrophe theme: http://858.photos

(can I reactivate my plugins now?)

    Moderator Kathryn Presner

    (@zoonini)

Thanks for testing Apostrophe and interesting that it works.

Yes, please go ahead and reactivate your plugins, it seems like we’ve probably ruled that out.

We’re going to give this a think and see what else we can think of to try.

In the meantime, can you confirm whether you made any changes at all to the Tojours theme files? You could always try downloading a fresh copy from https://wordpress.com/themes/toujours/ and reupload it; there’s always the possibility that a file got corrupted during the upload to your server.

    (@antermoia)

The theme files are absolutely untouched. When I customize I use a child theme, but that’s not the case here. I’m using the theme just as I downloaded it.

    (@antermoia)

FWIW, I uploaded the theme files again the old-fashioned way via FTP, but no change either.

    Thanks for trying that.

I noticed that your body tag is missing the home class on the front page:

    <body class="blog custom-background hfeed no-sidebar infinite-scroll neverending infinity-end">

This could be what’s preventing the slideshow from showing up.

Could you go into your Customizer’s Static Front Page panel, and verify that the front page is set to display the latest posts? It should look like this:

Customize Toujours An elegant theme for your big day

    Let me know!

Kathryn, you found the problem! Sort of. πŸ™‚

My “Reading” setting WAS configured to “latest posts”, but something must’ve been stuck (or whatever) – I switched the setting to “a static page”, and then BACK to “latest posts”, and the slideshow appeared.

Problem solved! Still puzzling though that it worked with the “Apostrophe” theme, but not with “Toujours” – if you want to dig further into that and I can be of any help just let me know.

Either way, thanks A LOT for your persistence and your help! Happiness has been restored. πŸ™‚

    Alex.

Yay! So glad we got your slider back.

Still puzzling though that it worked with the “Apostrophe” theme, but not with “Toujours” – if you want to dig further into that and I can be of any help just let me know.

Featured Content is implemented a bit differently in those two themes. In Apostrophe, the conditions to display FC were met before, but in Toujours they weren’t met since the front page did not return true for is_home() – which is what adds the home class to the body tag.

    (@antermoia)

    I understand.

Interesting still that this setting was stuck/wrong – it’s a (relatively) new WP installation (I dated the existing posts back) and I don’t think I ever touched it. Ah, the mystery. πŸ™‚

    Hello Kathryn,
I’ve the same problem as Alexander. I went through all the advices (and Toujours documentation) you gave him and unfortunately Featured Content slider is still not working on my page. Slider is in fact there but pictures are not present (just grey rectangle).I have no more ideas. Can you take a look at my page https://adamolejniczak.wordpress.com
I think it was some kind of coincidence that switching Customizer’s Static Front Page panel made the slider work. Of course I’ve tried it too πŸ™‚
Anyway I’d be VERY gratefull for help.
