Hi Jordy,
That would be nice. As I only upload 1 image always and I only need the retina image. I have disabled the automatic generating of other formats in wordpress. Takes to much space and waste for me. So this would be ideal to have.
Just upload the retina image for example 400x400px
you get the 200x200px
that’s it? correct?
Hello š
Exactly, that would do this. But you would have to upload this image through a Retina File Uploader. I would need to add a new page for this.
Hi Jordy,
I think I misunderstood, but the behaviour you mention above is the whole reason I just bought the PRO upgrade. The way it currently works might other people, but it absolutely doesn’t work for me. I have a slideshow based website and I for every page I now first need to upload an artificially smaller version, then visit the retina tab again and upload the real/retina version.
This is extremely laborious and I’m not sure what the PRO upgrade actually does without the functionality as you propose here?
Please have this built indeed,
Thank you!
Hi @lobbydeluxe,
PRO adds Retina upload in the dashboard, replace the standard image, lazyloading and there are a few more options. Actually in your case I believe you are uploading through the Pro, right? The direct upload of the Retina as the Retina and create the “original” from there is super advanced (for people who really understand the whole workflow) and yes, that will be the next step. I am still having an issue with WP API but that will come.
Hi,
it will be nice feature to upload just one image (the biggest) and your plugin generate full.jpg and full@2x.jpg
Than PRO version will be a must have plugin.
How goes the development? Will it be available in near months?
Thanks,
Jiri
Hello,
Still thinking about it and where to put it, I guess I need more people to be interested because that will cost me one or two days of dev, which I can really afford right now unfortunately. But that will be definitely done, especially if there are more and more people asking for it š
Here’s one that would appreciate that feature, too. š
Excuse the dump question, but how is this different than the current process? I have Woocommerce set up to have thumbnails, Catalog, and Single product at 125, 250 and 500, respectively. all the product images I upload are 1000×1000 and your plugin is generating the 2x version of those, so what would be different in the current suggestion?
@mhdskr For WooCommerce, I don’t think that feature would be useful. For me, I would never ever use it neither, I rely mainly on image sizes created by WordPress + Retina. But if you have very specific sizes for specific images, you need to take control and use the full-size only, and when you do this, you also need a retina version for it, and therefore, an additional upload. This is already possible with Retina Pro, but it requires a second upload. Some users would like to do it in one upload. I would personally never use this, but I guess it might be useful in a few cases where all your images have totally different ratio/sizes.
I see what you mean. Thx for the explanation!
I would absolutely love the one upload feature as now we are having to upload two. No-brainer for anyone that understands. Glad your considering it!
Another +1 for this feature.
I am counting š Keep it up, guys. Actually, I am working on a nicer improvement thanks to which you will not be required to upload a new image. Let’s see how it goes. Meanwhile, keep following this thread support.
This seems like a no-brainer to me, would love to see this feature (just bought pro by the way). Also really pleased to see this plugin under continued development.
