• Hi WordPress Team,

First of all, thanks for your continuous work on improving the platform!

I’d like to suggest two features for the Stories feature in WordPress that could really enhance user experience:

    1. Visitor Count for Stories:
It would be great if we could see how many people viewed each story. Just like Instagram or Facebook, this would help creators better understand the reach and engagement of their stories.
    2. Link Embedding in Stories:
Currently, we can only upload media files (like videos), but it would be awesome to have the ability to insert a direct URL for a video (like from an external source or self-hosted) instead of uploading it. This would save space and loading time, and give more flexibility.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

    Thanks again.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. However, I am unsure which stories you are referring to? This is not something that is included in WordPress Core. Are you possibly referring to a plugin you use or a theme that comes with it?

In the WordPress dashboard, there’s an option called “Stories” where you can post stories similar to Instagram.
However, I don’t think it’s part of the website theme, since the theme doesn’t seem to offer such a feature.

No, no there isn’t. 😉 At least in what comes with a WordPress.ORG software installation.

    Do you mean on WordPress.COM?

Edit: If there is then it is added via an add-on such as a plugin or theme feature.

WordPress does not have a “stories” feature, and if you want a view count, you can use an addon like Jetpack or something.

As for embeds, WordPress has embeds built in, and it can embed just about anything. Try using the embed block.
