hmm..there was no review left under your name (at least not one in the Reviews section where you rate the plugin).
anyway, for #1, that is available in the beta version of the plugin.
for #2, that would be more difficult now as the plugin has been around for awhile and started with it’s own categories to help people put content on different pages…only over time did people ask for mapping to their blog categories…very difficult to change at this point.
That’s odd, I’m certain I left one. Oh well, left another one. Thanks for the quick response. I’ll take a look at your beta plugin.
Thanks!

I would have to say the categories things is a big downer for me as well, it would be better still if there was an option for it to work with taxonomies.

ok..I agree that having plugin categories is now awkward since people have their blog categories. I have a beta version that will have you bypass the plugin categories (and put the feeds right into the blog catagories), but the problem then is the plugin needs 1 category for the shortcode and for the default images, etc. Would you need happy to use one of your blog categories for that (you would have to choose which of the possibly many categories is going to be used for shortcode and the images)?
Works for me. Thanks for following up, Allen–and for the +1 @callmeandy

I can provide you with an alpha version of the plugin that has this with I’m done. The main problem is backward compatibility as over 100,000 have downloaded the plugin and I’ve only heard from 3 people that they want this feature.
I don’t understand the issues about blog category, shortcode and default image could you explain further please Allen.

the blog category is the categories you set up on wordpress (look under Posts and you’ll see cateogories – those are wordpress blog categories). In the plugin, there are plugin categories – which you set on the categories tab in the plugin (not the blog categories which you set in WP in the posts tab) so that each feed can go into a plugin category). The default image in the plugin can be associated with the plugin category). Also, the plugin category has an ID number so the shortcode can pull feeds associated with any plugin category.
I understand what categories are in respect of both WP and your plugin.
I dint follow about:
>the plugin needs 1 category for the shortcode and for the default images
>
Because I thought the context of this thread was talking about feed-to-post and using categories defined on the blog in which case why cant the shortcode pull posts from the blog where blog-category=blah and custom_field rssmi_source_link != “” or null (whichever is appropriate)?
