Feature Slideshow showing blank images

I installed the Feature Slideshow (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/feature-slideshow/) on our works dev blog, and set it up with the time interval, colours and featured images etc that we require but one problem is bugging me.

Even though in the WP Admin I’ve set it to only pull the last 3 posts by date it scrolls through the feature 3 posts (and only shows three in the sidebox/ticker) and then shows a blank image, twice, until it loops back to the 1st item in the slideshow as if it is trying to show post 4 and 5. If I put a feature image in my last 4th and 5th posts it pulls that image so it is defo still trying to display 5 images/posts not the 3 specified in the admin, despite only showing 3 in the sidebar of the box.

No matter what I update this still happens. All other things I update in the admin work well i.e. colours, categories etc.
