I cannot find a way to do this… so…

It is helpful how the #_EVENTDATES automatically displays a single date or date range. Can this automation be tweaked a little more to display the date range without repeating the month and day if they match the start month and day? Additionally, the start year should only display if different than the end year.

Example:
Old: Dec. 1, 2020 – Dec. 3, 2020
New: Dec. 1 – 3, 2020

Basically, shorten the dates if at all possible by default. If the year is different, then it should display everything.

Also applying this to the #_{x x, xxxx} and #@_{x x, xxxx) placeholders would be great!

As I mentioned at the end of my original post, the placeholders #_{x} and #@_{x} are unable to shorten the date as I described. 🙂

I see, another way is to create your own placeholder using this tutorial – http://wp-events-plugin.com/tutorials/create-a-custom-placeholder-for-event-formatting/

you can format this code $EM_Event->start and $EM_Event->end

Does that mean, “Good idea, but you will have to code it yourself” or will the EM devs consider implementing an idea such as this?

EM might consider that but we can’t give you an eta when since there is already a hook/filter for adding custom placeholders.
