Easy Updates Manager looks great. Suggestion:

It would be great if there was an option to set a delay by number of days before automatic updates kick in. For example, 5 days. Why?…

Because every now and then a plugin developer’s or theme developer’s update is bad and causes problems (in some cases extreme problems like site crashes, which even happened a while back with Yoast SEO – an otherwise excellent and stable plugin).

However, when this happens the developer usually hears about it quickly from their users and shortly thereafter has another update that corrects the prior update’s issues.

As a general habit (and what I generally believe to be a ‘best practice’), whenever I check for plugin/theme updates I never update anything that just came out in the past 5 days. This ensures that I won’t get a ‘bad’ update and allows enough time for the developer to receive feedback on the bad update from users and come out with a newer update that resolves the problem.

So, being able to set a delay of say 5 days, 7 days, or whatever would resolve this potential problem.

Thanks for your consideration and would appreciate any feedback on this idea!

    Hi @toronto-seo-guy,

We are considering this. The problem is if a plugin or theme as frequent update (say every week), then a delay of 7 days causes no update at all. We are looking at it and will update you soon

    Hi Venkat,

Thank you for your quick response, and your point is understood.

Perhaps one possible solution would be to give the user the option to either have immediate automatic updates or no updates at all if a plugin update is available since the previous update in a shorter interval than the user’s specified delay.

That said, perhaps you and your team can come up with a better solution.

    Thanks again.
